As of March, Yes is the only telco in Malaysia to officially commercialise and offer 5G services from December 2021, and Yes has announced that 5G services will be free for subscribers until 31 March 2022.
According to the latest news, Yes’ free 5G network services will be extended until further notice. However, according to National Digital Berhad (DNB), the 5G network will be free for all telcos until 30 June 2022.
Currently, Yes has two 5G network packages, Yes Prepaid FT5G and Yes Postpaid FT5G. Yes Prepaid FT5G offers unlimited dial-up, unlimited 4G data at 7Mbps, 9GB Hotpsot and unlimited access to high-speed 5G networks for RM30 per month.
As for Yes Postpaid FT5G, it costs RM49 per month and offers 100GB of 4G high speed internet and unlimited access to the high speed 5G network.
According to DNB’s website, parts of Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Putrajaya are already covered by the 5G network and DNB is working on establishing 5G networks in Johor, Selangor, Penang and Perak with a target of reaching 40% of the population with 5G coverage by 2022.
