Woman Mistakenly Uses Super Glue as Eye Drops

07/06/2023

A 22-year-old lady recently suffered eye discomfort and desired to utilize eye drops to relieve the symptoms. However, after applying the drops, she discovered that her left eye was completely sealed shut and that she was in excruciating pain. She realized she had used super glue instead of eye drops and raced to the hospital for assistance. Despite their efforts to dissolve the glue, the physicians were unable to open her eyelid and were forced to resort to employing metal equipment to address the problem.

According to The New York Post, the woman, Lyd, posted a video titled “Not Fun, Read the Label Before Use,” in which she documents her error of using super glue as eye drops, as well as the ensuing medical care and rehabilitation. This cautionary tale serves as a painful reminder to herself and others to use drugs with prudence.

According to the video, Lyd planned to apply eye drops due to eye discomfort but instead picked up super glue and put a few drops directly to her left eye, resulting in total adhesive closure and the inability to open her eye.

Lyd reported that even after seeking emergency medical attention, the doctors’ early attempts to dissolve the superglue failed to restore her vision. As a result, they had to resort to employing metal instruments to forcefully open her eyelid.

Lyd’s vision has been compromised, and her eye has developed a yellowish weird liquid and bloodshot appearance. She is currently receiving therapy from doctors who have recommended antibiotics.

The video’s exposure resulted in a large number of views and comments among internet users.

“I’m amazed you managed to keep your eyelashes,” some said.

“Just viewing it is excruciatingly unpleasant.”

“I’m glad you’re feeling better now.”

“Why was superglue kept near the eye drops?”

“I have a friend whose boyfriend mistook nail polish for ear drops,” and

“When I was a child, I once accidentally got glue on my eye while trying to open a glue container. Fortunately, I accidentally managed to open my eyelid.”
