Johor Sultan won’t make hasty decisions on changing its weekend!

Johor Sultan won’t decide whether to alter Johor’s weekly rest day in a quick manner!

In a Facebook post, Johor Sultan Ibrahim His Majesty stated that he would not make a hasty decision regarding the change in the weekly holiday in Johor and he urged all groups to avoid squabbling and politicising the subject.

The Sultan of Johor emphasised that it is unnecessary to speculate because doing so will not hasten the decision to alter the weekly rest day. The state administration should currently give economic growth in Johor first priority while also considering the needs of the local populace.

It has previously been announced that Johor will switch its weekly holidays, which will now fall on Saturday and Sunday instead of the previous Friday and Saturday. According to rumours, the state of Johor will decide as early as September.

On January 1, 2014, Johor’s official weekly rest day was changed from Saturday to Sunday to Friday to Saturday in order to allow Muslims to pray on Friday.

Since gaining its independence, Johor has adhered to the Friday and Saturday weekend schedule. When former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin served as the Minister of State for Johor in 1994, the official weekends were modified to Saturdays and Sundays.
