Which Maybank transactions require Secure2u, and which require SMS TAC?

Secure2u is increasingly taking the place of SMS TAC at Maybank, and it can currently be used to verify practically all transactions.

Secure2u’s new activation service will be moved from M2U MY APP to MAE APP, according to a notification from Maybank. This is a part of Maybank’s efforts to increase the security of online banking.

Users had to utilise SMS TAC to complete transfers and transactions when online banking first gained popularity several years ago. The SMS TAC’s drawbacks include the possibility of third-party interception and the fact that it cannot be received when the network is down.

Maybank began rolling out Secure2u in recent years to take the place of SMS TAC. Secure TAC and Secure Verification are the two categories within Maybank’s Secure2u.

The M2U MY APP or MAE APP will pop up a verification message; the user merely needs to click on the notification to approve or reject the transaction. This is the so-called Secure Verification.

In terms of Secure TAC, customers can enter the 6-digit verification codes to confirm transactions when accessing the Maybank2u website. The M2U MY APP will create a set of 6-digit verification numbers.

Here, you can see which transactions can be completed with Secure2u and which ones still need SMS TAC.
