People who face problems with the 4G network can complain to the MCMC, which will impose fines and imprisonment on the telecommunications companies involved.
According to a message from the Chief Regulatory Officer of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the MCMC will take action against telecommunications companies that fail to provide quality network services. The companies will be fined and imprisoned, or both.
The MCMC’s initiative is to encourage telecommunications companies to provide quality network services to consumers so that they can experience a truly quality 4G network.
Under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, providers who fail to meet their commitments are liable to a fine not exceeding RM300,000, imprisonment for up to three years or both.
If you are also facing network related problems, you can file a complaint with MCMC, which will respond to your complaint, MCMC will first refer your problem to the telco, which will then contact the complainant. If you are still not satisfied with the way the telecommunication company handles your complaint, MCMC will intervene to coordinate.
Here is how to file a complaint with the MCMC
Step 1: Visit https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/Complaint/AddComplaint .
Step 2: Select Complaint in Jenis Aduan and Cellular Services in Jenis Perkhidmatan.
Step 3: Select Network in Kategori, then Subkategori for the problem you are facing, such as service interruption, low coverage, etc.
Step 4: Select the name of the telecom company you want to complain about.
Step 5: Enter personal details such as name, ID number, contact information, etc.
Step 6: Enter the details of the complaint to be filed, you can attach a photo.
Step 7: Once you have entered all the required information you can click on Hantar / Submit.
Step 8: You can navigate to https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/ click on SEMAK ADUAN / TRACK COMPLAINT and then use your ID number or mobile number to check the progress of your complaint.
