When buying a phone, how should you look at the processor?

26/10/2022

Which is the best phone processor?

What factors influence your decision to buy a phone? What comes first, the brand, the camera, or the form factor? The processor, often known as the chip in the phone, is the most significant consideration when purchasing a mobile phone.

In general, mobile phone chips will be classified as low-end or high-end. It is commonly understood that mobile phones with high-end CPUs function better and thus cost more.

In the mobile phone market today, there are five major brands of computing chips: Qualcomm Snapdragon, MediaTek, HiSilicon Kirin, Samsung Exynos, and Apple A-series CPUs.

High-end Qualcomm Snapdragon processors include the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 888 Plus, and others. High-end MediaTek (MTK) processors include the Dimensity 9000 Plus and Dimensity 9000.

Exynos 2200, Exynos 2100, and other high-end Samsung processors are available. Kirin 9000, Kirin 990, and more Huawei Hisilicon Kirin processors are available. Apple’s mobile phone processors are pretty simple to grasp. The most recent processor is the A16, and there have been A15, A14, A13, A12, and so on.

When purchasing a mobile phone, it is important to consider the processor as well as the design of the phone. This is how you can obtain a low-cost mobile phone.

In general, mobile phones with mid-to-low-end processors should not cost more than RM3000. When you find a phone for RM3300 with a mid-to-low-end chipset, you have to think about whether you should buy it. That is, unless this phone has something extra exceptional or some exciting new technology.

The overall performance of mobile phone CPUs is ranked below (as of October 2022).
