Westlife member Mark Feehily has announced that he is suspending his activities! He posted a message on the 28th, admitting that he has been suffering from health problems for a long time, and that although he had surgery three and a half years ago, his recovery has not been ideal, so in order to give his body enough time to recover, he has decided to withdraw from all tours afterward, which also means that he will suspend his acting work.
Mark had a surgery in August 2020 and was rushed to the emergency room again a few days later when he suddenly felt severe pain, “I was told that I had sepsis complicating my surgery and that I could die from the infection, and that emergency surgery had to be done immediately to save my life.” This coincided with the period of the New Crown epidemic and he was hospitalized alone for several months, not even being allowed to have family visits, “It was a very difficult time for me physically and mentally, not to mention the trauma caused by the prolonged stay in the ICU.”
Mark wasn’t released from the hospital until December 2020, but his health didn’t get any stronger, and at the end of the following year, while on tour, he suddenly fell seriously ill, and after being admitted to the emergency room, it was discovered that he was suffering from pneumonia, and he was asked to return home immediately to recuperate, and had to pull out of the remaining concerts. He was advised to undergo a third operation in May 2022, and as a result, he missed several shows again.
Despite his frequent health problems, Mark returned to the stage 3 months after his surgery so as not to disappoint his fans and continued to tour around with the Westside Boys, “Unfortunately, playing concerts and traveling around was too much for me and I developed a severe incisional hernia and was told that I would need to have further open heart surgery. This will be my 4th major surgery since the beginning, but I had no choice.”
This time, Mark decided to take a well-deserved break from his health and issued a statement himself announcing that he would be withdrawing from every subsequent tour. However, he said that this was “temporary” and that he would still have the opportunity to return to the stage when he was fully recovered, “but for now, I have to make the right decision for my health and well-being, my family and myself, don’t worry.” He also shouted out to the group members that even if he can’t attend the tour in person, his spirit will be with everyone, “WESTLIFE FOREVER.”
