Volunteers adopt Wave from vacant lot, “Shelter” in disarray
After adopting more than 20 stray dogs, a male volunteer converted a vacant lot in a residential area into a temporary stray dog shelter, but the dogs were not properly handled, causing poor environmental hygiene, which led to criticism from residents.
The stray dog shelter is located at Road 3/1, Area 1, Crown City, Cheras, and has been managed by a volunteer for more than a year. Due to the limited space, some stray dogs are housed on the roadside and some in cages with little space. Some residents have also found that the volunteer has left several stray dogs in his car, questioning the inhumane handling.
Although the volunteer supported the expenses with his meager income and the sponsor provided dog food to alleviate the burden, to ensure that the stray dogs would not face starvation, he also collected cardboard and other items in exchange for money. However, he placed the cardboard and other items at the roadside, which was misunderstood by other people as garbage disposal, resulting in a large amount of illegal garbage.
Volunteers: Hope there is a place to rehouse stray dogs
The Chairman of Crown City Resident Association, Mr. Yip Hang Wai, and the Advisor, Mr. Wong Wo Shun, visited the site this morning to understand the problem of stray dogs from the volunteers.
Volunteer Mr. Chan saw the media on the scene, but also reflected on the media reports where there are stray dog complaints, and can not effectively solve the problem of stray dogs, he hoped that there would be a place to rehome his adopted stray dogs, but the local government can not give cooperation.
He said he has been building a temporary shelter for stray dogs for more than a year, he also knows that residents have opinions, if they want to solve the problem of stray dogs, unless the Kajang City Council to help.
I have met city council officers who have not stopped me from adopting stray dogs, and the place can continue to be used as long as it doesn’t affect the residents.”
Wang and Shun: will help reflect the problem to Zhang Tendong Yang
In response to this matter, Wang and Shun said, after contact with volunteers, the other party hopes that there is a place to shelter their adopted stray dogs, he will reflect the problem to the Kajang State Councilor Zhang Zhenyang to see if a solution can be provided.
He pointed out that the Association has received many complaints from residents that volunteers in order to avoid stray dogs to attack residents or caught by the Kajang City Council Dog Catching Team, stray dogs will be tied under the tree and put in cages, but this way can not be permanent, it is necessary to solve the problem properly.
In his opinion, the location of the temporary stray dog shelter is not suitable as it is too close to the residence.
