Various banks recently launched a service to exchange new banknotes for red packets !

15/01/2022

The 2022 Lunar New Year is approaching! Chinese people like to use all new items in the Lunar New Year, such as new clothes, new shoes, new furniture, and of course new banknotes. For this reason, all major banks in China will launch a service to exchange new banknotes before the Lunar New Year.

In recent years, all domestic banks will provide new banknotes directly at automated teller machines (ATMs), so people can simply go to a specific ATM and withdraw new banknotes directly. This avoids crowded counters and is faster and more convenient.

Each bank will have different restrictions and conditions for withdrawing new banknotes. Some banks will only offer RM50 new banknotes, while others will offer RM10 and RM50 new banknotes. Some banks will limit the withdrawal to a maximum of 30 new notes at a time.

Maybank will generally provide new banknotes one week before Lunar New Year, while OCBC will open a special counter on Saturday for customers to exchange new banknotes. The banks have not yet officially announced the details of the new banknotes.

It is important to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing a mask and keeping a physical distance of at least one meter from other people when you go to the bank to withdraw money.
