The RM25 screen protector is required as part of the RM2099 “insurance”?

According to China Press, a female college student posted on Facebook that, on the evening of the 26th of last month, when she walked alone to the Petaling Street area, a male salesman suddenly stopped her. He attempted to offer screen protector services for RM 25. She told the salesman that her phone’s screen protector only needed to be changed and subsequently followed him to the local mobile phone shop.

He requested a Malaysian identification card when I entered the mobile phone store on the grounds that he needed to register for insurance in order to purchase a screen protector and that he could make a claim for compensation if the item malfunctioned in the future. She highlighted that after helping to install the screen protector and register the “insurance,” the other party suddenly charged her RM25 + RM2099. But he never told me to pay all the necessary fees from the beginning to the end.

She successfully paid RM1575 but received no proof because her bank account at the time only had RM1700. Realizing she had been scammed, she posted the transaction online to warn other people. She only hopes that more people were aware of it and would take more awareness.
