The tenth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, one of the traditional Chinese folk festivals, known as the Stone Festival, for the birthday of the stone god, called “stone mill day”, “ten son day”, “stone not moving” and so on.
This day is not allowed to move stones and grind, stone mortar and other stone tools, it is believed that otherwise it will hurt the crops. On this day, it is also forbidden to open a mountain and use stones to build a house, and it is customary to burn incense to worship stones and offer pancakes at lunchtime.
In other places, the custom of carrying the stone god is popular: on the night of the ninth day, a tile can be frozen on a smooth stone, and on the morning of the tenth day, ten girls or young men take turns carrying the tile can and running around. If the stone does not fall to the ground, it foretells a good harvest in the new year. If the stone falls to the ground, it foretells a bad year.
There is another custom: congratulating the mouse on getting married, also known as “mouse marriage”. On the tenth day of the wall, the cake will be placed on the wall. “congratulating Mouse Marriage” is written and palace it in the house. The corner of thw wall and light up the lamps, burning incense, and congratulate the mouse. At night, do not light, do not talk, so as not to disturb the wedding matters. Messing with the rat god is a year of trouble.
On the tenth day of this month, avoid needles, because on this day the needlework causes heartache, because the ten fingers are connected to the heart.
