On May 28, the Chinese city of Shenyang hosted a concert by the Taiwanese artist Richie Jen. Unexpectedly, a female fan he had saved 22 years prior showed up at the event. The video clip of this poignant meeting moved many netizens, and they conveyed their feelings by using the phrases “so touching” and “so heartwarming!”
In the video shared by the fan, during the song request segment of the Shenyang concert, a young female fan shared her story, saying, “Uncle Richie, I’m 23 years old this year, but I’ve known you for 22 years…” She then displayed a picture of herself as a young child being cradled in Richie Jen’s arms.
It turns out that this girl was the one Richie Jen had donated money to save 22 years ago. She said that when she was over a year old, she had congenital heart disease, but her family was financially unable to afford the surgery. “Then, when you were on your way to Shenyang for a concert, you saw the news in the ‘Times Commercial News’ and donated 30,000 yuan (about 20,000 Malaysian ringgit) for my surgery.”
The girl’s story immediately drew cheers from the entire audience, and Richie Jen was extremely surprised, exclaiming, “You’ve grown up so much!”
