Top 10 listed companies in Malaysia with the highest market capitalization (as of September)

Banking stocks continue to lead Malaysian stocks, with 4 of the 10 largest listed companies in Malaysia being banks.

 

The market capitalization of all banks has been on the rise recently as expectations of interest rate hikes by the national banks increase, coupled with the fact that bank stocks have been announcing details of dividend payments. Maybank continues to be the largest listed company in Malaysia in terms of market capitalization.

 

Maybank continued to increase its market capitalization in early September with RM106.892 billion, compared to RM105.935 billion in early August.

 

The second largest company in terms of market capitalization is Public Bank. As of early September, Public Bank’s market capitalization was RM90.648 billion, up from RM89.483 billion in early August.

 

CIMB was ranked 5th in the market capitalization list with RM54.885 billion at the beginning of August, but increased to RM57.608 billion at the beginning of September to rank 4th.

 

Petronas Chemicals ranked 3rd with a market capitalization of RM70.160 billion, IHH Healthcare ranked 5th with RM54.157 billion, Tenaga Nasional ranked 6th with RM50.339 billion and Hong Leong Bank ranked 7th with RM45.089 billion.

 

Press Metal Aluminum ranked 8th with a market cap of 379.85 at the beginning of September, Petronas Gas ranked 9th with RM34.153 billion and MISC ranked 10th with RM31.068 billion.
