Google Doodle honours Azah Aziz today, a Malaysia cultural icon.
On August 21, 1928, Azah Aziz was born in Singapore. She is regarded as the Tokoh Budayawan Melayu, or cultural icon of Malaysia. After receiving a magnificent collection from her mother, her love for Malay textiles intensified. Her nearly four decades of life were devoted to journalism. Azah Aziz was the go-to person for anything and everything regarding Malay culture and customs thanks to her extensive understanding of clothing, jewellery, and textiles.
She amassed an astounding collection of more than 100 different styles of traditional dress, including baju kurung and kebaya, as well as vintage clothes and textiles from the earlier Malay world. Tan Sri Zeti Aziz claimed that her mother was a fighter who had a fierce enthusiasm for the causes she supported.
