There are 30,787 new Covid-19 infections in Malaysia, including 70 deaths.
In the previous 24 hours, Malaysia has seen 30,787 new Covid-19 infections.
The newest figures show a 541-case increase over the number of new illnesses reported the day before.
With this latest statistic, the total number of cases reported in the country since the outbreak began has risen to 3,741,986.
According to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, 608 cases were imported today, comprising 564 Malaysians and 44 foreigners.
According to Noor Hisham, “the balance of 30,179 instances were recorded here, involving 29,295 Malaysians and 884 foreigners.”
Dr. Noor Hisham further stated that 389 patients are currently being treated in critical care units (ICUs) across the country, with 153 confirmed cases and the remaining 236 suspected cases or under investigation for Covid-19.
He claims that 229 patients require ventilator support, with 96 of those requiring machines to breathe being Covid-19 positive.
He also stated that 70 persons died from the coronavirus yesterday, with 19 of them already dead when they arrived at hospitals.
The current death toll in Malaysia since the outbreak began is 33,567.
He also stated that 26,457 individuals had recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of patients who have recovered to 3,393,999 across the country.
Only 224 of the 30,787 instances today are in Categories 3, 4, and 5, which necessitate hospitalisation, according to him, while the rest are in Categories 1 and 2.
Covid-19 cases in ICUs in six states have reached or exceeded 50% capacity, according to Dr. Noor Hisham.
Kelantan has a 79 percent approval rating, Johor has a 68 percent approval rating, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya has a 67 percent approval rating, Kuala Lumpur has a 62 percent approval rating, and Selangor and Penang both have a 58 percent approval rating.
Meanwhile, 12 states have used more than half of non-ICU beds for Covid-19 patients.
Selangor (111%), Putrajaya (111%), Kuala Lumpur (91%), Terengganu (90%), Perlis (89%), Perak (89%), Melaka (77%), Kelantan (73%), Sarawak (72%), Pahang (61%), Johor (61%) and Penang (61%) are the states (57 per cent).
Four new clusters were identified yesterday, raising the total number of active clusters to 419, according to Dr. Noor Hisham.
Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) in Malaysia is now at 1.04.
