The world’s first USB-C interface iPhone 12 Pro Max, is out! It’s priced at $1,400 !

After the successful conversion of the iPhone X to USB-C, the world’s first USB-C iPhone 12 Pro Max is finally available to everyone! DEEP, a Slovakian technology company, has successfully converted an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a USB-C interface, which is currently for sale on eBay for $1400 (approximately RM 5883).

DEEP measures the USB-C port after prying open the phone and removing the lightning connector drain assembly, in order to be able to fit a 3D printed homemade case on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Removing the gasket from the lightning connector left a USB-C opening that allows the plug to fit in.

In addition, the USB-C port was designed with a flex cable, looking for an original MFi chip, soldering it to the flex assembly, and mounting it to the device in a 3D printed enclosure that would allow for a perfect fit.

To make the new position of the MFi chip fit, a small part of the speaker module had to be filed off. The device has been tested and is fully operational. It exchanges data with iTunes, connects to a Mac, and charges properly with the original Apple charger using the USB-C to C cable (or USB-A to C cable), and all testing was done through the USB-C port.

Last November, Swiss robotics student Ken Pillonel modified a USB-C interface iPhone X. The device was sold on eBay to a winning bidder for $86,001 (about RM 360,000). The auction for this USB-C interface iPhone 12 Pro Max was launched on Thursday and will end on March 6 at 3 a.m. EST, with only 6 bids so far, so those interested might want to consider getting one!
