Thai government plans to reopen Malaysia-Thailand border from March!

According to the “Bangkok Post” report, the Thai government aims to reopen the border between Malaysia and Thailand in March in order to encourage tourism and economic development in southern Thailand.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has directed the Covid-19 Management Center and the Tourism and Sports Emergency Operations Center to devise mitigation plans in advance of the reopening of border controls in Yala, Songkhla, Narathiwat and Satun.

Malaysian tourists only need to undergo two nucleic acid tests (PCR) under Thailand’s quarantine-free entry policy (Test and Go), and no quarantine measures are required.

As of February 13, Thailand had 14,900 new confirmed cases and 26 deaths, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in Thailand to around 2.61 million.
