The ten-year extension of the license’s expiration duration was announced by Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook!

According to Oriental Daily, Loke Siew Fook conducted a press conference at the Ministry of Communications building on 3rd May, announcing that the public will be able to increase the duration of their driver’s license’s validity from five to ten years starting on Monday, May 8.

He said that if members of the public chose to renew their driver’s license for 10 years at once, they will obtain a reduction of the charge for the 10th year, meaning they will only be required to pay the RM270 renewing fee for 9 years.

This policy is free of charge, however, it only is available for Malaysian citizens; it does not cover foreigners or those who have temporary resident identity cards (MyKas).

The public can visit the National Land Transport Bureau (JPJ) or its counter starting on May 8, 2023, to submit an application.
