According to a Facebook post by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the MOE is once again opening admissions for the 2022 Bachelor of Science in Teaching Program (PISMP).
The Ministry of Education already opened the first round of admissions in March and now it is open for admissions again. If you missed the opportunity to apply before, you need to take advantage of it this time.
The Bachelor of Science in Teaching Program (Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan, PISMP) is a teacher training program offered by the Ministry of Education to train university-qualified elementary school teachers from all streams. The program lasts for five years, i.e., one year of preparatory course (PPISMP) and four years of bachelor level course (PISMP).
You can apply as long as you are not older than 20 years old as at 30 June 2022 (for those born on or after 30 June 2022). Applicants must be Malaysian citizens, physically and mentally fit and active in extra-curricular activities. Applicants must have obtained 5 credits (A-/A/A+) in SPM and distinctions (Kepujian) in Malay, English and History.
Each subject will have different requirements and applicants will need to meet the additional requirements of the relevant course. For more details, please visit PISMP .
If you are an SPM candidate in 2021, you can apply for the PISMP first. You can update your course options after the Ministry of Education releases the SPM results on June 16. The application website for the 2022 Bachelor of Science in Teaching Program (PISMP) is https://pismp.moe.gov.my/.
Only one application form can be submitted per applicant. After completing the form and ensuring that there are no errors in the information, the form can be submitted. Applicants will be given a number (Nombor Rujukan) and a date and time to take the online teacher qualification test (UKCG). Applicants can fill in two course options according to their interests, but must meet the application requirements for the relevant course.
After completing the application, applicants will be scheduled to take the online teacher qualification test (E-Ujian Kelayakan Calon Guru, E-UKCG). This is a psychometric test (ujian psikometrik) for the selection of teacher trainees and is designed to test the applicant’s suitability to become a teacher.
Only those applicants who pass the E-UKCG can proceed to the interview process. Applicants are required to read carefully the guidelines provided by the authorities and take the UKCG according to the dates and times specified by the Ministry of Education; there is no make-up test if they miss it. Applicants in the second round will be scheduled to take the E-UKCG on June 13.
Applicants who successfully pass the E-UKCG will be scheduled for a video interview. An interview guide will be provided by the Ministry of Education and applicants are advised to read it in detail. In addition, applicants must also record a separate physical fitness video (video kecergasan fizikal) according to the instructions. Again, the authorities will provide guidelines for applicants to record the video. Applicants must submit the physical fitness video at the time specified by the authorities, and applicants who fail to submit the video will be considered to have forfeited the opportunity to apply.
The admissions website has a calendar of events at https://pismp.moe.gov.my/kalendar.cfm, which indicates important dates for the online teacher licensure test, interviews, announcement of the admissions list and check-in. The Ministry of Education will not send letters of notification, and applicants must check online on the relevant dates to see if they have been accepted to take the teacher licensure test and interview.
