Good news! The retail price of imported white rice will be reduced by RM2 to RM3. The new measures will take effect from March 20, 2024.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the government has agreed to reduce the retail price of imported white rice, which means that the price of 10kg imported white rice will be reduced by RM2 to RM3. This also means that consumers can purchase imported white rice with a minimum of RM35.
The National Rice Corporation (Bernas) will adjust the price of imported white rice from September 1, 2023. At that time, the price of imported white rice rose from RM2,350 to RM3,200 per metric ton.
