The reason why RM150 eStart e-wallet rewards will only be given to young 18 to 20-year-olds !

02/11/2021

The Minister of Finance announced in Budget 2022 that RM150 eStart e-purse will be given to young people aged 18 to 20 years old, and many people are wondering why it will only be given to this age group.

In Budget 2022, the government hopes to help all age groups and all groups in need. 18 to 20 year olds are at an awkward age, as they are not eligible for either the Start of School Assistance or the Damascus Family Assistance.

Primary and secondary school students between the ages of 7 and 17 are eligible for the RM150 Start of School Assistance (BAP), while young people aged 21 and above are also eligible for the BKM, and those who are eligible to pay income tax are also eligible for income tax deductions. Currently, only young people between the ages of 18 and 20 are not eligible for the BAP.

In order to ensure that young people between the ages of 18 and 20 do not feel left out, the government has decided to give out RM150 eStart rewards to young people in this age group.

Young people between the ages of 18 and 20 will be able to receive the RM150 eStart eWallet Reward via eWallet. The government has yet to announce how to apply and which eWallet platform is participating in this program.
