Some citizens have seen a flying objects like a balloon over Japan. On Tuesday night, the Japanese Ministry of Defense said it was likely a Chinese unmanned reconnaissance balloon that was sent into the sky. China has been trying to solve the problem through diplomatic channels.
The Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) told Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) that Japan’s Ministry of Defense said people have seen balloon-shaped flying objects over Japan in the past, including in November 2019 in Satsuma Kawauchi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and other places, in June 2020 in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, and in September 2021 in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. Anti-submarine planes from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force were also seen in balloons on the high seas in western Kyushu in January 2022.
After repeated analysis, the Japanese Ministry of Defense said that the flying objects that looked like balloons and were seen in Japanese airspace in November 2019, June 2020, and September 2021 are likely unmanned reconnaissance balloons sent by China.
On February 4, the U.S. military shot down a Chinese balloon. Japan got information from the U.S. side to do a thorough analysis. The study found that the balloons were unmanned reconnaissance from China. The Japanese Ministry of Defense said that the original analysis of the balloons flying over Japan suggested that they might be Chinese.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense requested the Chinese government to find out the truth through diplomatic channels. It also asked very strongly that the same thing not happen again. It told the Chinese government that it would never accept foreign unmanned reconnaissance balloons breaking into its airspace.
