KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has directed the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) to ensure that flood evacuation centres in Kelantan and Terengganu have a sufficient supply of food.

He has also asked the Health Ministry to cooperate with Covid-19 preventative measures in order to prevent the virus from spreading at the relief centres.

“To all flood evacuees, please follow the safety measures and procedures and evacuate to the relief centres or higher ground that are safe for you and your family,” said Ismail Sabri in a statement on his official Facebook page today.

He stated that Nadma had sent rescuers from various departments and agencies for the evacuation of individuals impacted by floods in the two states since yesterday.

The Fire and Rescue Department, police, Armed Forces, and Civil Defence Force are among the departments and agencies engaging in the operation.

“Rescuers from the Fire and Rescue Department are on the ground to ensure the evacuation process involving people affected by the floods proceeds smoothly.

“The Armed Forces through the Eighth Infantry Brigade have also been deployed to help the victims in both states.

“Many people who are affected by the floods have been rescued and relocated to safer locations,” he said.
