At a special news conference held on October 10 at 3 p.m., Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri declared that the 15th General Election will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022, and that Parliament would be dissolved on that date. Prepare.
The prime minister recalled that on October 9, he had already met with the head of state and suggested dissolving the legislature. The dissolution of Parliament was also given royal approval by the head of state on October 10.
In a statement broadcast on television, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri expressed his hope that the 14th Parliament’s dissolution would put an end to everyone’s disparaging remarks about the “backdoor government.”
The state administrations were urged by the prime minister to dissolve their legislatures and hold elections concurrently.
The Election Commission (SPR) will convene to discuss the date of the general election in accordance with the Federal Constitution of Malaysia, which mandates that a general election take place within 60 days of the dissolution of Parliament. The general consensus is that national elections will take place in early November.
