The Prime Minister announced the allocation of RM100 million for post-flood reconstruction and each affected family will receive RM1,000.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced in a press conference at noon on December 19 that the government will allocate RM100 million for post-flood reconstruction work in the flood-affected areas. Each affected family will also receive RM1,000 assistance.
The flood aid will be distributed to the head of the family and it is hoped that this will alleviate the financial loss of the affected families.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ishmael Sabri announced in September this year that the Bantuan Wang Ihsan will be increased from RM500 to RM1,000 for families affected by floods as declared by the Central Disaster Management Committee.
The continuous heavy rainfall and high tides have led to the worst flooding in years in many areas of the Klang Valley. The amount of rainfall in the state of Snowy has exceeded 380mm, which is twice the previous record (180mm). The water level can reach up to 3 feet, many homes soaked in water, residents screaming in distress.
