The price of bottled cooking oil has gone up!
With the government ending the subsidy on bottled cooking oil from July, all pure palm bottled cooking oil in the country has seen a price increase of up to 44% from July 1, 2022.
The previous price of 1kg bottled cooking oil was RM6.70 and the new price in July is RM9.25 to RM50, an increase of 38% to 42%. The lowest retail price for 1kg bottle of cooking oil is Seri Murni.
For 2kg bottles of cooking oil, the previous retail price was RM12.70 and the new price for July is about RM18.05, an increase of about 43%. 3kg bottles of cooking oil have been increased from RM18.70 to RM26.95, an increase of 44%.
The 5kg bottle of cooking oil is RM29.70 with government subsidy and the new price from July is RM42.50 with labor oil (Buruh) at RM42.60.
Oil palm fruit prices have continued to slide in May and palm oil prices are also falling, although it is generally expected that there should be no possibility of price reduction for bottled cooking oil in the near future.
