The number of flood evacuees in Gurun has risen.
At 9 p.m. Thursday, the number of flood victims in Gurun had risen to 541 individuals from 137 families, up from 426 people from 111 families earlier in the day.
Captain (PA) Azahar Ahmad, Kuala Muda district civil defence officer, said the refugees were put in two relief centres (PPS) in Surau Kampung Sungai Bongkok and Masjid Pekan Gurun.
“The PPS in Surau Kampung Sungai Bongkok is housing 291 people from 70 families, while the Masjid Pekan Gurun PPS is housing 250 people from 67 households,” he stated in a statement released today.
After a three-hour storm, seven places were flooded about 4 a.m. today.
Kampung Sungai Ibor, Kampung Belakang Mahkamah Gurun, Kampung Jelatang, Kampung Batu 5, Kampung Sungai Badak, Kampung Sungai Bongkok, and Taman Gurun Jaya are among the locations that have been affected.
