11/02/2022

As of noon on February 11, there were 20,939 new confirmed cases, making a total of 2,996,361 confirmed cases in Malaysia. This is the first time in recent months that the number of new cases in Malaysia has exceeded 20,000 in a single day.

Of the 20,939 new confirmed cases, 118 or 0.56% are Grade 3, 4 and 5 cases, i.e. respiratory infections. The remaining 20,821 cases, or 99.44%, were Level 1 and Level 2, or asymptomatic and mild cases.

According to the news issued by the Director General of Health Tan Sri Nohithan, if the transmission index in Malaysia exceeds 1.6, then the number of new cases in Malaysia will exceed 30,000 in a single day!

Although there is a surge in new cases in Malaysia, most of them are mild or asymptomatic cases, which do not require hospitalization and will not squeeze our healthcare system.

The public is urged to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing masks properly, keeping physical distance from others and responding positively to calls for booster shots.
