According to the timetable set by the Ministry of Education for the 2022/2023 school year, the new school year will start on Monday 21 March 2022. The academic year will be divided into three terms, with the first term running from 21 March to 12 June, the second term from 13 June to 11 September and the third term from 12 September to 12 March.
Primary and secondary schools will have a nine-day mid-term break in the first term, from 4 to 12 June. The second term will also have a nine-day mid-term break from 3 September to 11 September. The third term will have two breaks, from 10 to 31 December and 18 February to 12 March.
In addition, Group A schools will enjoy an additional Lunar New Year holiday on 30 January and 31 January, while Group B schools will enjoy an additional Lunar New Year holiday on 31 January and 3 February.
According to the Ministry of Education’s Lunar New Year school holiday schedule, schools in Group A will start on Thursday, February 3 and schools in Group B will start on Friday, February 4. If schools take an extra day off on 3 or 4 February, this will result in a nine-day Lunar New Year holiday.
If Group A states take an extra day off, the Lunar New Year school holiday will run from 28 January to 5 February and Group B states can run from 29 January to 6 February.

1st Semester: 21 March to 12 June
Holidays.: 4 to 12 June
2nd Semester: 13 June to 11 September
Holidays: 3 September to 11 September
