Rumor that Toyota will launch a new generation of Vios in 2022, which is expected to be released in August 2022.
According to foreign media reports, the new generation of Vios will be based on the DNGA platform, the body architecture features similar to TNGA, both focus on lightweight, low center of gravity and high rigidity, the body will be more stable.
The new generation of Vios is expected to use the new 1.2L e-Smart hybrid engine instead of the rumored turbocharged engine. 1.2L e-Smart hybrid engine is jointly developed by Daihatsu and Toyota. The fuel is mainly used to charge and power the hybrid motor, while general driving will be in EV-only mode, with the fuel engine only intervening at highway speeds.
Initially, it is expected that the next-generation Vios will have a sportier look and sharper, flatter LED light clusters.
The Vios in the market now is released in 2019 with 4 models, namely 1.5J, 1.5E, 1.5G and 1.5GRS, priced between RM74,623 and RM87,584.
