To avoid consumer confusion, the Ministry has proposed renaming the TNG Visa.
TNG has been asked to implement six policy reforms, according to a message issued by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Dato Seri Sara Hussein Tin Tin.
These six measures include increasing TNG card sales and service sites, notifying cardholders of the TNG card expiry date in advance, speeding up refund and transfer procedures, changing the name of TNG Visa cards, and imposing restrictions on all e-commerce platform sales. Then, in December 2022, Touch ‘n Go launched a Visa prepaid card that supports consumption in retail stores, confusing many users as to why this card cannot be used to pay tolls, parking fees, and so on. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living also listed eight common TNG-related problems that people frequently face. TNG card refunds are difficult, as are time-consuming transfers of old card balances to new cards, TNG Visa cards cannot pay tolls, online platforms selling TNG cards at high prices, RFID channels are not smooth, and TNG card top-ups.
