According to the Minister of Health, the government has been relaxing its epidemic prevention measures and will announce next week whether it will follow Singapore’s example and exempt people from wearing masks outdoors.
The country has recently seen no more than 10,000 new cases in a single day, with most confirmed cases being asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic. Since April, the country has also entered a transitional phase of the epidemic, hence the news that the government may relax the mandatory wearing of masks.
There has been a lot of opposition to this proposal to remove the wearing of masks outdoors, with people fearing that not wearing masks outdoors could lead to a wider spread of the virus. Many believe that now is not the time to implement this measure and that they will continue to wear masks outdoors even if the government implements it.
