The Ministry of Health is urging parents to pay more attention to their children, if they have 5 symptoms, they may have acute hepatitis!
According to information released by the Ministry of Health, the symptoms of acute hepatitis include jaundice, lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite and dark urine. If your child shows these symptoms, parents should take your child to the hospital immediately.
As of April 21, 2022, WHO has received 169 cases of unexplained childhood hepatitis in children aged 1 month to 18 years old.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia has stepped up surveillance of acute hepatitis to understand the situation of unexplained acute hepatitis in the country.
It is called acute hepatitis of unknown origin because the virus of hepatitis A, B, C, D or E was not detected in the cases, which are still under investigation. Of the 169 cases, 74 were adenovirus positive, while 20 were SARS-CoV-2 positive, 10% of which required liver transplantation.
People should pay attention to dietary hygiene in daily life, wash hands before and after meals, and use common chopsticks and common spoons to share meals at group gatherings to reduce the transmission of hepatitis.
