12/06/2022

Given the current situation in Malaysia, it is common for a family to own one car or more. However, having the ability to buy a car and knowing about cars are two different things. A person who can afford to buy a car may not necessarily be a person who is very familiar with cars.

I believe that many car owners for their own car tire pressure and tire general knowledge is still very lacking. Here and share with you the meaning of several groups of numbers and letters on the tire tread, we can understand the basic information of the tire through these numbers and letters.

Each tire will have a set of four numbers on it, such as 4313, 0814 and 1514, etc.. The first two numbers of this group are the number of weeks of production, while the last two numbers are the year of production. Take 4313 for example, this tire was produced in the 43rd week of 2013, that is, around October 2013.

In addition, the tire will have a combination of letters and numbers similar to this: 185 / 65R15 88S. The first 3 numbers represent the width of the tire (mm), the next 2 numbers represent the percentage of tire thickness and width (%), R stands for radial, 15 stands for wheel diameter / tire inside inch (inch), 88 stands for load index (weight that can be carried) and S stands for the maximum speed of the tire.

As an example, take the combination of the letters 185/65R15 88S. The width of this tire is 185 mm, the percentage of thickness and width is 65%, it is a radial tire, and the rim diameter / inside diameter of the tire is 15 inches. According to the list 88 represents the weight of 560 kg and S represents the maximum speed of the tire is 180 km/h.
