According to the news issued by the Minister of Human Resources, the implementation of the Labour (Amendment) Act 2022, which was scheduled to be implemented on September 1 this year, will be postponed to January 1, 2023.

The Ministry of Human Resources, in discussions with employers and all stakeholders, concluded that the implementation of the Act should be postponed because businesses need more time to recover economically.

The proposal to postpone the implementation of the Labour Act has also been brought to the Cabinet meeting for discussion and has been agreed by the Cabinet members.

The Labor (Amendment) Decree 2022 contains a number of new measures, such as increasing the threshold for overtime pay from RM2000 to RM4000 per month, reducing the working hour from 48 hours to 45 hours per week, increasing maternity leave from 60 days to 98 days, and 7 days of paternity leave.
