The government will not make it mandatory for people to receive a booster vaccination. The MySejahtera electronic certificate of vaccination will not be affected in any way for people who have not received the booster.
According to a message from the Deputy Minister of Health, the more dangerous Delta variant of the virus has emerged in the country. The government is appealing to the population to receive the booster vaccine, which will be voluntary. Of course, people can decide whether to receive the booster according to their needs.
People who do not receive the booster can dine as usual and cross state lines without any impact on MySejahtera’s vaccine e-certification.
The Ministry of Health encourages people who have received the Sinovac vaccine to receive the booster after the second dose has been administered for 3 months. The Ministry of Health will provide Pfizer vaccine as a booster dose. People who have received the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines for 6 months can also receive the Pfizer vaccine as a booster.
The Ministry of Health has recently issued a report on the efficacy of the vaccine, and the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine will be reduced to 68% at the end of 5 months of vaccination. As for the Sinovac vaccine, the efficacy is only 27.9% after 5 months of vaccination. However, both vaccines are effective in preventing patients from entering intensive care units and preventing death.
