The government will not force children to be vaccinated, and children who have not been vaccinated will not be restricted

The vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 is not mandatory and the government will not restrict the movement of unvaccinated children.

According to Health Minister, the vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 will start in February. He noted that the government will not mandate vaccinations for children or restrict the freedom of movement of unvaccinated children.

If a child is not vaccinated, their MySejahtera will show that they are not vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health will start issuing appointments for childhood vaccinations by end-January and will roll out a vaccination program in the Klang Valley from February 3. Children with chronic and underlying medical conditions will be given priority to be vaccinated, as they are at higher risk than the general population to be hospitalized for COVID-19.

It is understood that from January 25, 2020, to January 19, 2022, a total of 269,773 children aged 5 to 11 were infected with Covid-19, and 31 children died.

The Medicines Control Enforcement Unit (PBKD), which is part of the Ministry of Health, has approved 10mcg of Pfizer’s vaccine for children aged 5 to 11, a dose that is one-third the dose for adults.
