The government will distribute RM100 electronic cash to the B40 and M40 groups in December.
It is understood that Deputy Minister of Finance Shen Zhiqiang revealed that the government will not issue RM100 electronic cash in December 2023. All Malaysian adults with an annual income of no more than RM100,000 are eligible. This program is expected to benefit 10 million people and involves an allocation of up to RM1 billion.
As long as your annual income does not exceed RM100,000, you can receive RM100 electronic cash from the government. The e-cash will be distributed through e-wallets, and it is unclear which e-wallets will participate in the scheme.
The purpose of this program is to advocate and educate people to cope with the future digital economy, which is a cashless society. Once this electronic cash flows into the market in December, it will stimulate economic activity in our country.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Finance announced on July 27 this year that RM100 electronic cash would be distributed. However, the 2024 budget submitted on October 13 did not mention this electronic cash, so some netizens complained that the government had broken its promise.
