According to the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, the government will be distributing RM100 e-cash to the eligible B40 and M40 groups in the fourth quarter of this year, from October to December this year.
As long as your annual income does not exceed RM100,000, you will be entitled to the RM100 e-cash. The e-cash will be distributed through e-wallets and it is not yet clear which e-wallet will participate in the programme.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar announced on 27 July that the RM100 e-wallet will be distributed to low and middle income earners with an annual income of up to RM100,000. The objective of the programme is to promote and educate people to cope with the digital economy of the future, i.e. a cashless society.
The programme will benefit 10 million people and the government has allocated RM1 billion to launch the programme. Once this e-cash hits the market, it will stimulate economic activities in the country and will be a boon to business people.
