Shopee was investigated by the government for violating competition legislation.
The government questioned Shopee for a 2010 Competition Act violation.
The Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) said in a statement that it had summoned Shopee’s management and requested an explanation of its logistical problems by the end of October.
The Competition Commission of Malaysia stated in a statement that Shopee and the Commission had spoken on October 19 following a public uproar against certain of Shopee’s activities. Shopee was ordered to provide an explanation of First and Last Mile Delivery by the Malaysian Competition Commission.
On June 17, 2021, Shopee stopped allowing customers to select logistics suppliers. Online users were upset by this action and swamped Shopee with complaints. Shopee is thought to have been called in by the Malaysian Competition Commission to discuss this issue.
The national trade regulator has gotten in touch with Shopee before. Additionally, Shopee was called before the Thailand Trade and Competition Commission (OTCC) last year to provide an explanation of logistics-related issues.
