The Selangor government will continue to introduce the BINGKAS grant scheme in 2023 and low-income families will receive a monthly grant of RM300.
To alleviate the burden of low-income families, the Selangor government has introduced the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor or BINGKAS from 2022 and will continue to implement the scheme in 2023.
Through this scheme, low income Selangor families will receive a government grant of RM300 per month for one year, or RM3,600 in total.
The BINGKAS grant will benefit 30,000 families, which will ease the burden of the beneficiary families, as the grant can be used to cover daily living expenses or to pay for the education of their children.
The BINGKAS grant will be disbursed to the beneficiary families through an e-wallet, which will then allow them to use the e-cash to spend at designated stores. The monthly amount of RM300 will not be accumulated to the next month and will automatically expire if the beneficiary does not use up the grant in that month.
The RM300 grant can only be used to purchase rice, noodles and rice flour, cookies and bread, eggs, sugar and salt, seasoning, flour, cooking oil, vegetables and fruits, chicken, beef, mutton and fish, toiletries, diapers, milk, school supplies.
The application requirements for BINGKAS are Malaysian citizens born or settled in Selangor, with children aged 18 years or below and a household income of less than RM3,000.
