The government may announce the minimum salary increase in April!

In response to a question in Parliament, the Minister of Human Resources said that the government may announce the minimum salary increase to RM1500 in April. The minimum wage adjustment is currently in the final stage of study, which means that relief or exemptions will be granted for specific areas.

The government does not want to see companies laying off workers after raising the minimum wage, which will lead to an increase in unemployment in the country.

The government needs to review the minimum wage system every two years, and the last review will be in 2020. The government plans to raise the minimum wage to RM1,500 by the end of this year to help the low-income group. Raising the minimum salary can solve the situation that many people are not satisfied with the salary and choose not to work.

Some companies in the country have been the first to announce the implementation of the RM1500 minimum salary system before the government officially announced the increase, including AEON and McDonald’s.

In the long run, the government’s increase in the minimum salary is beneficial to the country’s development, which will attract people to stay in the country.
