The government has finally announced the amount of STR assistance available to each group. Come and see how much assistance you can receive.
The application conditions for Compassionate Assistance (STR) in 2024 are the same as in 2023, that is, singles with a monthly income not exceeding RM2,500 and families with a monthly income not exceeding RM5,000 are eligible.
According to information on the Malaysian Ministry of Finance website, families with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500 can receive RM1,000 if they have no children, while those with 1 to 2 children can receive RM1,500, and those with 3 children can receive RM1,500. Those with up to 4 children will receive RM2,000, and those with 5 children or more will receive RM2,500.
As for families with a monthly income of RM2,501 to RM5,000, they will receive RM500 if they have no children, RM750 if they have 1 to 2 children, and RM1,000 if they have 3 to 4 children. Those with 5 children or above will receive RM1,250.
Senior singles will receive RM600, while singles with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500 will receive RM350.
It is worth mentioning that all STR assistance recipients can receive Compassionate Basic Assistance (SARA). The SARA assistance will not be distributed in cash. Instead, West Malaysians need to go to designated stores to purchase daily necessities. Show your MyKad to cash out. People in East Malaysia receive SARA directly in cash.
Under the SARA scheme, the destitute and poor will receive RM1,200, which is RM100 per month. STR family group can get RM300, while STR single group can get RM150.
STR assistance and SARA assistance are available to everyone who qualifies.
