Earlier, a 17-year-old girl in Singapore, Zoe, was ridiculed by netizens for calling an $80 (about RM263) Charles & Keith bag a “luxury bag”. Zoe later stepped in to respond to the sourpusses and received great praise from netizens for her mature handling of the situation.
Zoe has now been invited by the founder of Charles & Keith to have lunch with her father and show them around the company’s headquarters!
According to 《Marketing Interactive》, a Charles & Keith spokesperson noted that the company has invited Zoe and her father to lunch, a meeting with the founders, and a tour of its headquarters. “When we saw the video and comments, we felt pity for Zoe. She shouldn’t have bullied …… but we were impressed by the calmness and humility with which she handled the matter, the wisdom she showed far beyond her actual age, and the values that resonated so much with us.”
According to Sin Chew, Zoe noted in an interview that her father immigrated to Singapore in 2009 and she and her family have lived there for 13 years. She loves everything about the place, especially the food.
She was quite surprised by the attention the video attracted and reminded herself that everyone’s financial situation and life experiences are different.
“Sometimes it’s easy to forget that values are subjective and we may not always see eye to eye, but I believe we can understand each other and spread kindness and love in our lives.”
Zoe describes the incident as having taught herself an important life lesson and is grateful to all those who left messages of encouragement and sarcasm.
