The flood situation in Kelantan and Terengganu is getting worse.
The number of flood victims in Terengganu and Kelantan has increased, with 19,626 evacuees in relief centres (PPS) in the two states this morning, up from 14,521 the night before.
At 8 a.m. in Terengganu, the number of victims had risen to 11,137 people from 3,177 families, up from 6,963 people from 2,072 families the day before. They are distributed among 157 PPS in eight districts, including 44 in Besut, Setiu (30), Hulu Terengganu (27), Dungun (23), Kemaman (22), Kuala Nerus (eight), Kuala Terengganu (two), and Marang (one).
The Terengganu Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the weather in most of the state’s districts was expected to be pleasant today morning, while the Drainage and Irrigation Department’s (JPS) website indicated that six rivers were still in danger.
Sungai Kemaman and Sungai Tebak in Kemaman, Sungai Nerus (Setiu), Sungai Telemong (Hulu Terengganu), Sungai Dungun (Dungun), and Sungai Terengganu make up the six rivers (Kuala Terengganu).
At 8 a.m. in Kelantan, the number of flood evacuees had risen to 8,489 individuals from 2,750 families, up from 7,558 people from 2,449 families the day before.
According to the JKM disaster information app, 68 PPS have been opened in seven districts: 18 in Pasir Mas, 16 in Kuala Krai, 14 in Tanah Merah, eight in Jeli, six in Pasir Puteh, five in Machang, and five in Kota Bharu (one).
Sungai Golok in Kampung Jenob, Tanah Merah; Sungai Kelantan in Temangan, Machang; and Sungai Kelantan in Kusial, Tanah Merah, according to the JPS portal, are three important rivers in Kelantan that are in danger.
