A total of 12 locations in our country are under the first-level extremely hot weather stage as of 4:15 PM on April 13, 2023, according to data from the Malaysian Meteorological Department. These regions are dispersed over the peninsula’s northern region and inland.
Perlis, Sik, Hulu Perak, Jeli, Kuala Krai, Kinta, Batang Padang, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Raub, and Jempol are among the areas having Category 1 extreme heat.
First-level extremely hot weather is defined as three days in a row where the highest temperature in an area is between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
The second level, or impending heat wave, is applied to an area when its three consecutive days of peak temperature fall between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius. A third stage, or super heat wave, is declared in an area where the hottest temperature is 40 degrees Celsius or above for three days in a row.
