There are three high tides in January. If the high tide encounters heavy rain, it will cause severe flooding!
According to the forecast of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, there will have three high tides in January 2 to 5, January 18 to 21, and January 31 to February 3. At high tide, the sea level will rise to its highest.
If precautions are not taken during high tides, this will cause low-lying areas to be submerged. The so-called preventive measures include wave-prevention equipment along the coast. If the heavy rain causes the river water level to rise, and the seawater level rises during high tide, the river water will not be able to discharge into the sea, which will cause severe flooding in low-lying areas.
It is worth noting that the Chinese Lunar New Year falls on February 1, which also happens to be during the high tide. If it was raining heavily, floods may break out in low-lying areas. I hope everyone can spend the Lunar New Year safely.
People are urged to be vigilant and avoid seaside activities. Once heavy rains and high tides continue, people must follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities and evacuate to a safe place.
