According to Khairy, a date for the reopening of Malaysia’s borders has been determined, and the PM will make an announcement.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob would make a announcement on the reopening of the country’s borders, according to Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said that the government had determined a date for the reopening of the Malaysia’s borders.

According to Khairy, the prime minister will announce the date as they already have a date and they will leave it to the prime minister to announce it.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, head of the National Recovery Council, reportedly stated on Tuesday that the Ministry of Health (MOH) was developing and fine-tuning the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the reopening of the country’s borders.

Another concern, according to Khairy, is that the MOH has received offers from the Pharmaceutical Services Division to provide (to other countries) Covid-19 vaccinations that would expire after a few months if not utilised.

On a news portal’s report that Malaysia may be forced to discard nearly half a million doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford Covid-19 vaccine, which is set to expire in May, Khairy repeated that the Ministry of Health had never disposed of vaccines because they were all utilised before the expiration dates.

He receive weekly information on vaccination stocks from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), including the expiry date for every brand of vaccine available.

He stated that if necessary, the Ministry of Health would provide vaccines to other countries, similar to the contributions provided to Bangladesh and Laos.

Khairy and Wisma Putra will pick which countries will benefit from Malaysia’s assistance.
