This coming weekend will be a long holiday weekend.
This year Deepavali falls on November 12, which is a Sunday, so November 13 (Monday) will be a compensatory holiday for Deepavali. This also means that this year’s Deepavali will be a 3-day long weekend holiday from November 11th to November 13th.
However, the compensatory leave on November 13 (Monday) does not apply to Johor, Terengganu, Kedah and Kelantan because the weekly holidays in these four states fall on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday is a working day.
In addition, domestic primary and secondary schools will also be able to enjoy a four-day school holiday during Deepavali. Primary and secondary schools in Group A states will be able to enjoy the four-day Deepavali school holiday from November 10 to November 13, 2023, while primary and secondary schools in Group B states will be able to enjoy the Deepavali school holiday from November 11 to November 11, 2023. There is a 4-day Deepavali school holiday on the 14th of September. Group A states include Johor, Terengganu, Kedah and Kelantan, while Group B includes other states.
Traffic queues and crowds are expected to appear on various domestic thoroughfares and tourist attractions during the coming weekend. If you don’t want to waste time in traffic jams, you can try to avoid traveling during this time.
