The west coast of the peninsula is set for a major tidal wave! The public is urged to reduce their activities on the beach and parents are urged to keep their children away from the water.
According to an advisory issued by the Water and Irrigation Department, several coastal areas along the west coast of the peninsula will face high tides for four consecutive days from December 4 to 7, 2021. People need to be vigilant when carrying out water activities or leisure activities in the coastal areas.
The affected areas include Kedah (Kuala Muda), Perak (Bagan Datoh), Selangor (Klang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor) and Johor (Batu Pahat and Pintian).
The Water and Irrigation Department predicts that the tidal wave will be smaller than the one in November. However, if it is accompanied by high winds, waves and heavy rains, it may cause flash floods, flooding and sea flooding.
People are urged to keep watching the weather conditions and be prepared to move to a safe place if heavy rain and high tide occur at the same time.
